Govt. notifies electronic products to be compulsorily registered for compliance to notified safety standards

Department of Electronics & IT (Deity) has notified ‘Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements of Compulsory Registration Order, 2012’ vide its notification dated 7^th Sep, 2012.

The Order provides that the notified electronic and IT Products to confirm specified standards and bear the words “Self Declaration – Confirming to IS…..” [Relevant Indian Standard (IS) as mentioned in Column (3) in Schedule annexed with Order]

The Order does not apply to goods meant for export.

The substandard or defective goods which do not confirm to the specified standards to be deformed beyond use by the manufacturer and disposed off as scrap.
